Two problems, one solution

We have had a big chess board kicking around for years. It was a Father's Day present 10 or so years ago. This thing is huge, and we have always had a problem finding a place for it.

As you may or may not have noticed, my black hutch is missing a drawer. I had originally planned to make a fake drawer front to cover the hole, but no one I know has a router (how it that possible??) and since I was not willing to spend the money to rent one, it wasn't going to happen. I decided to take the other drawer out and fill the holes with baskets, but you try finding short, large square baskets.

Today, an idea popped in to my head.


A prefect fit.

While the men of the family watched the game, I painted the inside with paint I had leftover from painting the outside. This is the best picture I could get at night, so tomorrow I will try to remember to take a better one.
